A NATIONAL pizza chain could make Newport the site of only its second store in Wales.

Plans to convert the former Caerleon News newsagents in Caerleon Road into a Pizza GoGo takeaway and delivery have been submitted to the local authority.

The application reads: "The principle business is delivery of online and telephone orders direct to customers. Delivery is with the use of dedicated and adapted motor scooters."

If approved by Newport City Council, the takeaway will create five full-time jobs.

It would be open from 11am to 1am from Monday to Saturday and between 11am and midnight on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Pizza GoGo currently has one takeaway in Cardiff and boasts more than 100 branches across the UK.
