A GWENT based ballet company has revealed images from their latest production, Cinderella.

The ballet features new choreography, new costumes as well as six new dancers and is a co-production between Ballet Cymru and The Riverfront Theatre, in association with Citrus Arts.

The ballet company have been working with award winning composer Jack White and Circus Company Citrus Arts to conjure a world of wonder and magic.

Featuring choreography by Creative Wales Award winner Darius James and choreographer Amy Doughty, Ballet Cymru have been able to bring the timeless story to life a unique blend of classical technique and storytelling.

The company, which is based in the Wern Trading Estate in Rogerstone, were nominated Best Independent Company at the Critics’ Circle UK National Dance Awards, and winners of the Best Dance Production at the Wales Theatre Awards 2018.

Described as a company who "like to do things a bit differently" the company was established in 1986 by Artistic Director, Darius James and Administrative Director, Yvonne Williams.

In this production they have challenged dancers to interpret one of the finest characters in literature and will present a sparkling and refreshing ballet based on the fairy tale.

The ballet will be performed on May 11 and 12 at the Riverfront Theatre in Newport and at the Blackwood Miners Institute on May 23 before going on tour around the UK.
