Newport-based GoCompare is giving new mums and dads among its employees a boost after enhancing its parental leave policy.

The price comparison website company made the decision following information gathered by its Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Following a parenting workshop which the company held recently to understand what matters to existing or prospective parents, GoCompare has decided to immediately change its approach to pay in all family-related policies.

Previously, employees who made use of the company’s maternity, shared parental leave and adoption policies received three months’ full pay followed by three months’ half pay, but now they will receive nine months’ full pay.

To help better support new dads and secondary caregivers, GoCompare is also extending its paternity policy from two weeks’ full pay to four weeks’ full pay, with flexibility over how the additional two weeks are used.

Alex Currie, HR director at GoCompare, said: “This is the first step in a number of changes that we will be making to our policies and procedures as part of our wider diversity and inclusion strategy.

"We have always firmly believed that our business is built on the capabilities and commitment of our people, and in return for their hard-work and creativity we want to provide them with the best workplace possible.

"This process never ends of course, and we’re always looking for new ways to make GoCompare the place to be for meaningful and rewarding careers.”
