Seven mid-day raids targeting serious organised crime led to six arrests for Gwent Police today.

Over 50 specialist officers were involved in the operation targeting specific properties in the Tredegar, New Tredegar, Abertysswg and Bargoed areas of Gwent.

Four men aged 36, 28, 25 and 24 were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and two women aged 31 and 29 have been arrested on suspicion of money laundering.

Gwent Police have confirmed the suspects are all in police custody and investigations are ongoing.

The police teams included specialist entry and search officers, as well as officers from Gwent Police's dog section and criminal investigation teams.

As part of the operation, two cars were seized, along with large quantities of cash – believed to be the proceeds of criminal activity and serious organised crime.

What’s thought to be Class A drugs have also been seized and they will be sent away for forensic examination and identification.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Pope said: "Information received from our communities is vital for warrants like these be executed successfully.

"Nobody knows their villages and streets better than the communities that live there.

"If you see something that either seems out of place or in most cases, if something just does not add up then you can contact us and know it will be dealt with seriously.

"What may seems like a small detail to you, to Gwent Police, it could be the final piece to a much bigger puzzle.”

A spokesman for Gwent Police added: "Serious Organised Crime can take many forms of criminal activity and can include: Top tier drugs supply of some our most dangerous Class A drugs, child sexual exploitation and human trafficking, violence and intimidation, cyber-crime and money laundering."
