LOTS of families turned up to enjoy and celebrate an event for National Children’s Day in Chepstow yesterday (SUN).

The Family Festival was organised by the Friends of Dell Park Chepstow and funded by the National Lottery. It was also a chance to showcase plans for the a proposed new park.

The event had a variety of different local groups and clubs including the Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA).

There were also various activities suitable for children and their families to try together - such as karate and football sessions.

National Children’s Day UK is held to show the importance of a healthy childhood and how children’s rights and freedom can be protected to ensure they grow into happy, healthy adults.

Claire Adams, Chairwoman of Friends of Dell Park, said: "It was an absolutely amazing day. The atmosphere was incredible and the sun just kept on shining.

"There were lots of performances from all sort of local groups and lots of much needed money was raised for the new park.

"The feedback we got from people will be quantified and then we will be using that in our grant application.

"People were really generous today. We're applying for grants because the designs we've had drawn up give us a cost of around £250-500,000."
