UPDATED:
A 28-year-old man was rushed to hospital after becoming impaled on a park fence.
South Wales Fire Service attended the incident in Belle Vue Park, Newport, this morning (Friday, May 18) at 12.50am, after being alerted by Gwent Police.
Two crews from Malpas and Duffryn helped to free the man in an operation that took an hour.
A spokesman for South Wales Fire Service said a reciprocal saw was used to free the man, who was later taken to hospital in an ambulance.
It is not known how the man became stuck, or his current condition.
A spokesman for Gwent Polcie said:" We were called at approximately 00.50am (on Friday 18th May 2018) to a report of a man who had injured himself on a spiked fence on Waterloo Road, Newport.
"Officers, along with Welsh Ambulance Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and a 28 year old man from the Cardiff area was taken to Royal Gwent Hospital with a leg injury."
