THERE was music, dance and ale at a popular music festival.

The Devauden Music Festival took place on Friday and Saturday in the Monmouthshire village of Devauden.

Organiser Scott McKeon, who was stage manager at the event, said: "the festival couldn't have gone any better, it was phenomenal.

"The weather was stunning and we had hundreds of people there.

"It was really family friendly and we had a great kids zone which was hugely popular."

The festival featured emerging Welsh artists, many of them based in Gwent.

Mr McKeon added: "There was one band who did their first gig and seeing their faces took me back to my early days. To see that was amazing.

"We will be celebrating the festival's 10 year anniversary so we are planning big things."

Musician Bongo Peet was performing at the festival.

He said: "Devauden Festival has been growing year after year.

"The sun was kind to us this year so that was a welcome change, but the addition of a festival big-top tent brought a kind of folky circus vibe that paired well with all the craft stalls and kids’ activities going on.

"Devauden is such a beautiful place and the community is so welcoming. All the staff and organisers are proper friendly and there’s free tea and cake backstage.

"Rusty Shackle headlined an amazing day of live music from loads of great bands and performers.

"Devauden Festival is always good fun but when the sun shines it’s magic."

One week before the event a 12ft wooden guitar, which is used to advertise the festival, was stolen.

It was found by a farmer around one mile outside the village and was not damaged and in good order.
