MORE than £600 was raised for the Royal Gwent Hospital’s children’s ward at a charity football match.
Newport County AFC’s foundation development phase team defeated the club’s youth development phase side by two goals to one in the match at at Velodrome Way in Newport.
More than 350 people attended to watch the two sides compete.
Cardiff and Newport Face Painting set up a stall on the day, donating half of the proceeds they collected to the the hospital ward.
A raffle was also held, with prizes including a signed County shirt, a pair of signed goalkeeping gloves by Exiles keeper Joe Day, a day of footgolf for four, a haircut at John Payne’s barbers, and a bottle of Prosecco, among others.
