GWENT’s emergency services are holding a first ‘Behind the Badge’ open day next month.

The event, which will take place on Sunday June 3 at Gwent Police HQ in Cwmbran, will aim to showcase the work done by all branches of the emergency services, and how they work closely with each other.

Beginning at 9.30am and ending at 5.30pm, displays look set to include staged riots, fire rescues and police dogs.

There will be representatives from all three emergency services, and the Special Constabulary, Police Cadets, Army Reserves, and Chepstow Mountain Rescue, available throughout the day, to speak to visitors about crime prevention advice, fire safety issues and recruitment.

A police spokesman said: “Partner agencies such as Women’s Aid, Llamau and Gwent Police’s in house victim’s hub, Connect Gwent will also be attending which is a service working to ensure that victims of crime receive the support, information and guidance they need in Gwent.”

All proceeds from the day will go to All Creatures Great and Small, a charity from Cwmbran that has been serving the community since 1992, providing rehabilitation and rehoming of injured, abused, unwanted and orphaned animals.
