A GROUP of Newport students are pitching for a good cause in an unusual way.
Students at Coleg Gwent’s Newport Campus are creating 80 metal flowers in a variety of colours to fundraise for Cancer Research.
Each flower takes around 90 minutes to create.
The students are led by lecturers, Anthony Bonnici, Darren Brooks and Richard Jones.
Project leader at Coleg Gwent Mr Bonnici said: “We are donating to Cancer Research as it affects so many people in the greater community, but also our students and staff members.”
Involved with production are fabrication and welding students Nicola Edwards, Lee Ryder and Kier Flowers, alongside vehicle body repair students Zain Ali, John Czajkowski, Paul Davies, Louis Hill, Ryan Hill, Levi Jones and Craig Richards.
Lecturer Mr Brooks added: “The majority of flowers will be colour coded to represent the many different type of cancers.
“Hopefully we can raise over £1,000 for a very worthy cause.”
The metal flowers are now on sale for £12 each at the Newport Campus.
