A CLASSIC vehicles show took to the streets of a valleys town for its 10th year.

Brynmawr Classic Car and Vehicle Show took place between 10am and 3pm on Sunday in Brynmawr town centre.

This annual event was organised by Brynmawr Motorcycle and Car Club.

In the past the shows have featured more vehicles, but due to poor weather, on display were approximately 80 cars and 20 motorcycles.

Two classic buses were also on display.

One of the organisers, Mike Harris, said: “Due to the inclement weather there were less vehicles than we would have liked.

“But the day was absolutely wonderful.

“We had loads of people turn up, old friends and new.”

Competitions took place at the show, with the categories: best car at show, best modified car, and best motorcycle.

Clive Meredith, from Ebbw Vale, won best car with his Austin 7 - also known as a “Baby Austin.”

The Austin 7 is a classic car, introduced in 1922 and producing 290,000 of them within 17 years.

Best modified car went to Mr Daryll Tucker.

He entered road and rally car, Audi Quattro, which were introduced in 1980 and had 11,452 circulating by 1991.

Les Jones won best motorcycle with his Ariel.

This classic was created by Ariel Motorcycles, which stopped building bikes in 1959.

“This was our 10th show,” added Mr Harris.

“We are looking forward to the next 10.

“I am already planning the next one , which will take place on June 16 2019.”
