FANS traveling by train to Cardiff for Sunday’s Ed Sheeran have been urged to plan their journey carefully, with a severely limited Sunday service running from Cardiff after the show.

Arriva Trains Wales have confirmed they are not running any services to Ebbw Vale, Gloucester or anywhere on the valley lines after Ed Sheeran's final Cardiff gig at the Principality stadium.

A notice placed in train stations by Arriva Trains Wales adds there will be a “severely limited” service to Swansea, Hereford, Newport and Bristol after the event.

However, the notice says, Bristol services on the night are going to be given rail replacement bus service because of the railway upgrade work in the Severn Tunnel.

Arriva Trains Wales has explained that the reduced service is so trains can undergo essential maintenance in time to deliver Monday’s service.

The notice reads: “Having gone above and beyond to deliver additional and strengthened services for the three previous nights, Arriva Trains Wales will be unable to run additional services over and above the planned Sunday timetable for the fourth night.

“This is to ensure trains are able to go through their essential maintenance and safety procedures int time to deliver a full service for Monday morning commuters.”

Arriva Trains Wales have been contacted for comment.
