SINGLE mothers have published a storybook written by them.
Goodbye Green Eyed Monster – launched June 16 – was created as part of the Growing Together project.
It was written by Newport mums Kerry Tanner, Charlotte Spring, Jordan McArdle, Stacey-Leigh Corney, Emma Brakspear and Laura Wheeler, with the aid of writer Mike Church.
Mr Church said: “This is trying to encourage and nurture a love of literacy, breeding a literate nation.
“One hundred years from now this book will still be as good as it is now – so what a wonderful achievement!”
The book was published by PETRA (Parents Engaging to Raise Aspirations) Publishing.
Tracy Wallbank, of PETRA Publishing, said: “We believe that by raising the aspirations of the parents we raise the aspirations of the child.
“The parents have worked extremely hard on this and, fingers crossed, it will be something they are proud of.”
One author, Kerry Tanner, said: “I’ve gotten a lot out of the Growing Together Project.
“It’s helped me make friends with people in similar situations to me and my family are proud.”
