Insurance business Thomas Carroll Group, which recently opened an office in Newport, is the latest business to fign up as a sponsor of the South Wales Argus Business Awards.

The firm is backing the Large Business of the Year category.

The business awards, which are open for entries, is set to become one of the highlights of the Gwent business calendar.

There are 15 categories for businesses across Gwent to enter. They range from Business of the Year to Contribution of the Community and include categories for family businesses, environmental businesses, young entrepreneurs, innovative businesses and small businesses among others.

The awards are easy to enter and the entry deadline is fast approaching - July 20 is the cut off.

Newport Now Business Improvement District is the headline sponsor, and as part of its sponsorship deal two categories will be only open to BID levy payers. These are for the Best BID Independent of the Year and the Best BID National of the year.

Sponsors of other categories include Western Power Distribution, Newport City Council, MHA Broomfield Alexander, Kymin, Monmouthshire Building Society, Icon Creative Design, St Joseph's Hospital, Friars Walk, The Kingsway Centre, Effective Communication, Cordant People and Johnsey Estates.

South Wales Argus MD Hussain Bayoomi has thanked all the sponsors for backing the awards and urged businesses from across Gwent enter the awareds before the deadline on July 20.

The business awards will be presented at an event at the Newport Centre on September 27, 2018.
