BARGAIN hunters picked up designer goods at rock-bottom prices at the UK's largest proceeds of crime sale held at a Newport auction house.

The auction's lots, including watches, shoes and cars, were all either confiscated from convicted criminals or repossessed by the government.

Highlights at the auction included two Cartier bracelets, each selling for half their £9,000 estimated value, Rolex watches, a quad bike and pairs of trainers designed by rapper Kanye West.

The most expensive purchase was a Range Rover confiscated in 2017 from a Manchester-based drug dealer. The car, originally purchased for £51,000, sold for £10,250.

Other purchases included a boat – bought for £1,600 by a man who also picked up a pair of Armani jeans for £25 – and a pair of Prada shorts, worth £140, which sold for £10.

Aidan Larkin of Wilson's Auctions said proceeds of crime auctions "always do very well in Newport".
