A BAND is performing in this country for the first time.

Punk power pop band, Duncan Reid and the Big Heads, will rock out at Abertillery's Dolls House on August 11, at a gig starting at 6pm.

Despite half the band being from Wales - drummer, Karen Jones, and guitarist, Sophie Powers, from Newport - this will be their first performance in Wales.

Previously the band have had the Welsh flag flying on-stage at concerts in Germany, France, Sweden, Argentina and the USA.

Singer, Duncan Reid, said: "Karen and Sophie are looking forward to the show, and I think a lot of relatives are coming. The flag will probably have pride of place. I’ve tried to lose it many times but it comes running back!”

The band have concerts in Spain, London, Derby and Scotland lined up in the future.

Andrew Rogers, of the Dolls House, said “We’ve been trying to get Dundan Reid and the Big Heads to play here for ages.

"Having already seen them live I know the audience will not be disappointed; they are explosive onstage and you can expect an evening of high excitement and a lot of dancing."

The band will be supported by Plague UK and Ambition Demolition, with tickets for £6 in advance or £7 on the door.
