A CAT shooting in Abertillery has prompted RSPCA Cymru to launch an appeal for information.

Simba, a ginger and white male cat, was found shot near shops in the vicinity of Tillery Road on Monday (August 6).

The shooting is believed to have taken place shortly before 8pm.

An x-ray confirmed the cat had been shot. It was put to sleep to prevent further suffering.

RSPCA officers have now urged anyone in the local community with information related to this shooting to contact them immediately.

Selina Griffiths, RSPCA inspector said: “Everyone’s thoughts at RSPCA Cymru are with Simba’s family, after his tragic death following this shooting incident.

“It beggars belief anyone would regard it acceptable to take shots at a cat this way. Such awful behaviour has cost poor Simba his life and cost a family their beloved pet.

"Anyone with information is urged to contact our inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
