THERE were tears of joy and some disappointment at schools around the region as pupils went to collect their results this morning.
Pupils were up early to receive their envelopes as many schools opened at 8am, and some had pupils queuing at the doors before they opened.
Most students knew which university they will be attending on the next stage of their education journey as they received conformation of their places the night before or in the early hours.
Others entered the clearing system where students who did not hold an offer of another chance to find a university place.
South Wales Argus reporters were at schools around Gwent to capture the day. Take a look at our gallery of pictures from the day.
