FIRE crews tackled a large grass fire on a mountainside near Risca.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service took to Twitter to reassure people that they were dealling with the fire on Machen Mountain yesterday.
They said: "Fire crews are in attendance and continuing to monitor the fire at Machen mountain."
Gwent Police said they were called to a number of grass fires in Torfaen, Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent earlier this week.
On social media they said they had been working with South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, using drones to increase patrols in the area following multiple incidents.
South Wales Fire & Rescue Service confirmed that it received reports that the mountain was ablaze at around 11pm on Saturday, April 24.
A spokesperson also confirmed that part of the mountain between Risca and Machen located was still burning as of midday today.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service are also dealing with another fire in Llandwonno, Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Fire crews that are dealing with the grass fire in Llanwonno have advised people in the Tylorstown area to stay indoors and close windows due to this fire producing a large quantity of smoke.
