HE'S SPENT two years chasing little green men, so no wonder he has the blues.
Newport's own Gareth David-Lloyd is not only appearing in the hit sci-fi series Torchwood but has now started his own blues band - Blue Gillespie.
Mr David-Lloyd, 26, said: "I've known some of these guys since my college days ten years ago.
"I'm into all sorts of music but blues it's something I like to perform live. It's always attracted me."
His foray into blues coincides with series two of Torchwood, which has seen great changes in his character Ianto Jones.
While his character Ianto Jones was initially a backroom boy, making the tea and cleaning up after the escapades of Jack and the others, he's now more involved in the plot and has since begun a relationship with Captain Jack Harkness.
Ianto has been rated by one website as the best cult character on TV, while the series has become a hit for BBC2.
"It's been great how they've developed the character," said Mr David-Lloyd. "Seeing as I was originally meant to die in the first series I've been really lucky how its developed."
But the young star is modest about the new interest is character is getting.
"I'm not getting much more attention to how I did before in the first series, although I'm getting more attention from pretty girls than I used to, which is nice.
The Torchwood star has moved back to the city in October to live with his aunt in Allt-yr-yn.
He added: "People in Newport are used to seeing me around, but in Cardiff you do get the odd nervous teenage girl after an autograph - that can be weird."
The band will be playing at the Point in Cardiff Bay with Gwent acts Disgraceland and The Death of Her Money on April 20th.
