LLANHILLETH train station was officially up and running today, after months of delays.

The single platform was originally supposed to be open at the same time as the other stations on the railway line.

But as the Argus reported last year, building work at Llanhilleth was delayed after slow worms - a protected species - were found onsite.

The line itself, had also suffered delays and after claims that it should be open by Christmas time, did not open until Wednesday February 6 this year.

Were you one of the first people to use the station today?

Has anyone asked when Crosskeys railway station will be open, or has the Argus forgotten about that one?

This news story does not mention the new bus service that connects Abertillery to Llanhilleth station. People can catch a bus to meet the train.

Great news for llanhilleth but hope they put more carriages. you had hard job getting on the train by the time it got to newbridge with only ebbw vale open, so now llanhilleth is open i doubt you will get on.

I totally agree with this, the shortage of carriages is getting ridiculous. Even when the trains are chokka going to Cardiff they still have the same number of carriages coming back. Someone needs to get some sense.
