FRIENDS have paid tribute to a popular student who was killed in a road accident.

Edward Kangalee, 24, from Auden Close, Osbaston, died after a collision involving a single vehicle on the B4293 Monmouth to Devauden road near Chepstow on Saturday morning.

The incident happened at around 12.25am and Mr Kangalee was the front seat passenger of a black Volkswagen Golf.

He was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital where he died from his injuries.

He was a business management student at the University of Bath and his page on social networking site Facebook has been inundated with poignant messages from friends.

In total, over 50 tributes have been paid to him. These include a touching message from his girlfriend, Victoria Baskerville.

She said: "You were the most special person in my life. I love you so much. Rest in peace baby."

Another from friend Richard Price read: "Can't stop thinking about you mate, wish you didn't have to leave. It is the saddest thing I have ever known, so many things will remind me of you. Love you mate, sleep peacefully, Pricey."

"Things will never be the same again. Miss you," said Anni Shilton and Susi Rudge said: "You brought so many smiles to my face, I will never forget you."

The driver of the vehicle was a 25-year-old man from Northampton.

He was arrested in connection with the incident and taken to Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny.

He has since been released from hospital and is on police bail pending further enquiries.
