An accident on the M4 Severn Bridge has caused major tailbacks after a chemical tanker caught fire.
Fire fighters were called to the incident at 5pm and the road was initially closed both ways between junctions 22 and 21.
Eight fire engines tackled the blaze, which a spokesman for Avon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said involved the tyre of a HGV chemical tanker.
The westbound carriageway has now re-opened but a diversion is in operation on the easttbound carriageway.
No-one is believed to have been injured in the incident.
