Adult panto comes to Monmouth

An adult-only pantomime is beginning its tour in Monmouth this weekend.

Fame Factory Spotlight will be entertaining audiences with Dick Wit, based on Dick Whittington but with scenes of stand up comedy, brief nudity, some strong language and adult jokes.

The group, who come from all over the UK, have been rehearsing in Pandy Hall, Abergavenny, for the past few weeks and it is the first time they have performed an adult-only play.

Only over 16s will be allowed entry to the performance.

The production has all the typical pantomime gags, but characters include a cat who has a crush on the show’s heroine, a naughty dame, a camp hero, a saucy and mischievous heroine, an evil captain and a stand-up comedian.

Sharon Lewis, who plays the cat, said: “It’s all tongue in cheek with lots of innuendos and rude jokes. There’s all the usual things you expect from a pantomime like ‘He’s behind you’, but it’s all a bit naughtier than normal.”

After performing in Monmouth, the pantomime will visit theatres all over the UK.

Dick Wit will be performed at the Savoy Theatre in Monmouth at 7.30pm today.

Tickets are £5 for adults and £4 for concessions, available on the door.
