A NEWPORT landlord is looking for the perfect pub poet to represent the region in a national competition.
Mike Maloney, landlord of the The Dragon Fly, Hazell Drive, is hoping to find a bar bard to put pen to paper and compose a poem about one of six beers included in the pub’s real ale festival.
The competition is being run by Vintage Inns and a regional winner will be chosen to compete for a VIP weekend for four in London, including rail travel, accommodation, a champagne picnic and tickets for Kew Gardens.
The winning poem will also be published alongside entries from across the country and The Dragon Fly will be running an online poll to find the favourite.
Entries should be emailed to pubpoet@gmail.com with The Dragon Fly in the subject line, and including a contact name and phone number by July 31.
