A 72-YEAR-old Gwent man died after a collision on the A467 Risca by-pass last night.

The man’s Volvo car collided with a BMW motorcycle near the junction with the B4591 Risca Road just before 6pm yesterday.

The car driver and the motorcyclist, a 41-year-old man from Somerset, were both taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport where the car driver died as a result of his injuries.

The motorcyclist broke both of his arms.

Gwent Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them by calling 101 or to call the collision investigation unit on 01633 642404.
