A NEWPORT father-of-four will cycle 140 miles to Denmark to raise money for Christian Aid and draw attention to the issue of climate change.
Iestyn Davies, 38, of Rogerstone, will set off for Copenhagen on December 9 to arrive in time for the United Nation's Climate Change Conference on December 12.
Joining a team of 20 fundraisers for Christian Aid and Muslim Aid, the political communications student, hopes to raise £1,500.
The team will set off for the three-day trip from London and cycle 65 miles to Harwich where they will board a ferry to the Danish port of Esbjerg.
They will then peddle 50 miles from the nearby town of Middlefart to Roskilde before completing the challenge the next day with a 25-mile journey to Copenhagen.
There Mr Davies will attend the conference where he will meet Assembly minister Jane Davidson to discuss what people in Wales can do to tackle climate change.
The father-of-four to Jordan, 20, Ryan, 17, Morgan, nine, and Ioan, 18 months, has been cycling around Gwent up to four times a week in preparation for the challenge.
He said: “Climate change is a global issue, I have four kids and it’s going to effect their lives more than mine.
“It is too much for any one person to do so I hope by doing something like this it will demonstrate that individuals can make a difference.”
