WHEN Cwmbran woman Kim Beard helped her baby daughter open her presents this Christmas, a swearing Minnie Mouse toy was not what she was expecting to find.

But Miss Beard, 23, of Greenmeadow Way, was left shocked a few days after Christmas when she discovered that pressing the foot of the Disney baby Minnie Mouse talking plush toy led to a swearword coming from the character.

Instead of saying the phrase “One is the heart on my dress and two is my hand for hugging you” the toy replaces the word ‘hugging’ with an expletive.

Miss Beard said the toy was bought by her sister Kayleigh from Home Bargains, Cwmbran, for Miss Beard’s three-month-old daughter Roxie-June.

As Kayleigh bought her Christmas presents throughout the year, the family are not sure when the toy was bought or how much it was.

Miss Beard who also has a two-year-old son Logan-Rhys, got rid of the original packaging before she realised the error.

She said: At first I just laughed about it but then I was mortified.

“I have a sense of humour but it is different when there are kids involved.”

Miss Beard did go back to the store to see if there were any more of the toys available and found out that there were no more of them.

She hasn’t made any formal complaint yet but is trying to get in touch with Disney to get the matter sorted.

Operations director at Home Bargains, Joe Morris said the firm did not currently have stock of the toy and had not been able to identify the item due to Miss Beard not having the original packaging or remembering when the product was bought.

He said: “We have not had any complaint like this before. We are in contact with the customer to investigate this further.”

A Disney spokeswoman said products were repeatedly tested to ensure the correct functioning and safety of the items.

She said: “Weare very concerned to hear about this potential product defect.

The Walt Disney Company sets the very highest standards for the quality of Disney-branded products.”

She asked for Miss Beard to get in touch so the matter could be investigated.
