A FORMER public house in Abergavenny could reopen as an opticians.
Andrew Sutton, of Specsavers opticians on Frogmore Street, is hoping planners will allow him to move his business into the former Britannia Inn, Frogmore Street, which he bought last year. Mr Sutton, of Coed Morgan, near Abergavenny, says the business has outgrown the current shop and is looking to relocate within the town. The Grade II listed building closed early in 2011 but plans submitted to Monmouthshire council byMr Sutton would see a reception and display area on the ground floor, with offices, a staff room, laboratory and test and healthcare rooms on the first floor.
The second floor would be used for storage. The application has yet to be considered by Monmouthshire council.
