SHIRENEWTON Primary School’s current performance was judged as “good”
and its prospects for improvement were said to “excellent”
by schools inspection body Estyn.
Following an inspection of the school in November 2011, Estyn also said Shirenewton Primary’s leadership and management were excellent.
The report said the school’s performance was good because most pupils achieve good standards. It noted that the behaviour of nearly all the pupils was good.
The prospects for improvement were said to be excellent because the vision and leadership of the head teacher are of a very high quality, and the quality of teamwork and staff morale are high.
Head teacher Jayne Edwards, who has been at the school for four and a half years, said: “I am very proud to lead such a wonderful team of staff and governors who are dedicated to continuously improving outcomes for young people.
“This is a well-deserved result for the school”.
