THE words ‘Grand Slam’ are apparently banned in the Wales rugby team’s dressing room.

But there will be few Welsh fans who are not now relishing the prospect of a third Grand Slam in seven years following France’s dramatic draw with Ireland yesterday.

There are, of course, still two games to play and we have no doubt Warren Gatland will be doing everything in his power to dampen expectations over the next fortnight.

Italy are no pushovers but eminently beatable, while the French will be smarting from throwing away their own Grand Slam chances.

Everything points to March 17 being a momentous day in Welsh rugby history. The legendary team of the Seventies won three Grand Slams in seven years. The 2012 team can match that achievement.

They have to stay fit and focused – but history beckons.
