'Twister' hits Newport allotment

NEWPORT allotment holders claimed they saw a twister in the high winds at Bettws Allotments today.

Allotment holder Chris Saunders said the twister went from one side of the allotments to the other at around 12.40pm.

He said around 12 people were there at the time and fortunately nobody was hurt.

Mr Saunders said the twister left a trail of debris in its path breaking the back windscreen of a car and moving one of the sheds.

He also described how a trampoline from a nearby garden was lifted in the air before ending up in another garden six houses down.
