YOUNGSTERS at a Newport school said farewell to a much-loved staff member at the opening of their new reading area.

Barbara Moss retired at Easter after 30 years working as a lunchtime supervisor at Malpas Church In Wales Primary School.

For the past ten years she also worked as a teaching assistant.

To mark her retirement, Mrs Moss was given the honour of opening the school’s new outdoor reading area in the grounds with Reverend Dr Stephen James.

Head teacher, Annette James said: “The reading area was funded by the PTA through some of the fundraising they’ve been doing. It will let the children go outside for story time and lunchtimes, just a special area for the children.”

The pupils are currently preparing for their Jubilee School Fete on May 31.
