STAFF from Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls raised £3,466.21p for the Velindre cancer centre, Cardiff.
The support staff raised the money with a race night last month and presented a cheque to Annabelle Jones, a therapeutic radiographer at Velindre.
Ms Jones, a former pupil at the school, is taking part in a sponsored cycle ride in the USA as part of Velindre’s fundraising plans for 2012.
She will cycle from Yosemite National Park to the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco fromSeptember 24 to October 2, attempting to cover 390 kilometres in five days of cycling.
Each participant must raise a minimum £4,300 sponsorship for the centre and the money raised on the race night will go towards it.
