WHAT IS the definition of a cross? Two straight lines intersecting somewhere around the middle.?

I assume that those who recently vied for this simple mark upon the ballot paper supposed that we in Pill were unable to master such a complex task, let alone reach an informed opinion on who should represent us in council.

As the dust settles and the letters page is awash with the aftermath of the polls, it might be asked if anyone actually deserved a vote, irrespective of party. I can’t speak for other areas but not one single candidate actually knocked on the door to offer their policies or ask for a vote.

The sheer arrogance of the junk mail leaflet shoved through the letter box spoke volumes. I think that there should be at least two major policy changes in the election process.

Candidates should have to produce evidence of canvassing and elected members should work for their first year in office, free of charge, to demonstrate their commitment to their community.
