A PLAY by Abergavenny author Owen Sheers based on the real-life stories of wounded soldiers comes to Wales next month.
The author has written The Two Worlds of Charlie F, a soldier’s view of service, injury and recovery.
The play is performed by soldiers who were there and moves from the war in Afghanistan to the morphine- induced hallucinations at Headley Court, the consequences of physical and psychological injury and adapting to life at home.
The group of wounded and injured personnel from the Bravo 22 Company, who perform in the play, took the West End by storm in January with standing ovations and five star reviews.
The play was created by The Theatre Royal Haymarket Masterclass Trust with the Royal British Legion and Defence Recovery Capability.
The project aims to use the theatre to help the soldiers with recovery, build new skills and offer opportunities.
Mr Sheers, who wrote the novel Resistance, said: “The play deals with issues currently affecting many Welsh service personnel and their families, and with several Welsh members of the cast too I am pleased Wales has the chance to see a performance.”
The Two Worlds of Charlie F will be at Sherman Cymru on July 25, 26 and 28, before heading to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
