Appeal for help in historic Abergavenny garden
9:40pm Friday 29th June 2012 in News
GREEN-FINGERED enthusiasts are needed to help restore an historic walled garden in Abergavenny to its former glory.
For more than a year, 20 volunteers who formed the Friends of Gardd-y-Bryn, have been working to restore the garden at the former Hill Campus, Pen y Pound, which Coleg Gwent closed in 2010.
Despite the uncertainty over the future of the estate, the group are being allowed to continue to tend to the garden until a sale has been agreed.
Volunteers numbers have dwindled in recently months.
Irena Morgan, the group’s secretary, said: “You don’t need to be a qualified gardener – all you need is enthusiasm.”
