I REALLY can’t understand the thought process behind the Welsh soccer players and their failure to sing the National Anthem. Not only does it show the Welsh to be a very narrow-minded race, which I am sure they are not, but shows a considerable lack of maturity.

I believe that everyone should celebrate their heritage and their origins, to the utmost degree, which is what makes Great Britain a very special land in which to live. I fail to understand why they can’t rejoice in being Welsh, but at the same time, be glad to be a part of a far greater thing. We have been Great Britain for over 700 years. Is that such a bad thing? If the Welsh FA wish to send their players to a tournament abroad, do they not travel on a British passport?

Craig Bellamy and Ryan Giggs are mature footballers of class and distinction; they should not lower their sights by involving themselves in such ridiculous, childish behaviour.
