SPECIALIST police negotiators spent nearly an hour and a half talking a man down from a Newport bridge earlier this morning.
A member of the public called Gwent Police to say the 24-year-old local man was on the wrong side of the bridge at 4.43am.
Police officers and the specialist team were dispatched after he was located on CCTV cameras.
A Gwent Police spokesman said the man was talked down from the bridge at 6.15am and was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital to be checked over.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were put on standby during the incident.
