TWO Monmouthshire restaurants are among more than 80 in Wales to be included in the Good Food Guide 2013.

It includes reviews of the very best dining establishments in the UK, from great value pubs to fine dining.

Restaurant 1861, near Abergavenny, and The Crown at Whitebrook, near Monmouth, feature in the prestigious best-selling restaurant guide, now in its 62nd year, which is to be published next month.

Restaurant 1861, run by chef Simon King at Cross Ash, secured a new entry, while The Crown at Whitebrook is listed at 27 in the Top 50 restaurants Elizabeth Carter, consultant editor of The Good Food Guide, said: “We are delighted to welcome new eateries from Wales into The Good Food Guide this year.”

“It is fantastic to see that there are really strong dining options to be enjoyed across the region, with a mix of new entries sitting alongside first-rate fine dining establishments and perennial favourites.”

The Good Food Guide is to published on September 3.
