ANIMAL charity Battersea Dogs and Cats Home is celebrating Monmouthshire Paralympian Mark Colbourne's gold medal victory by naming one of its animals in his honour.
The charity is marking Mr Colbourne’s victory in the individual C1 3KM pursuit by naming one lucky dog or cat after him.
Mark the rescue animal will also receive a special gold wrapped treat to mark ParalympicsGB's sporting victories.
The charity will name a dog or cat after every TeamGB gold medallist in the Paralympic Games.
Each day seven stray dogs and three stray cats arrive at one of the charity's three centres, and as their history is often unknown, they are given new names by Battersea.
Mark's name will be bestowed on a new arrival at one of the Battersea centres.
Claire Porteous, Operations Manager at Battersea Dogs and Cats, said: "Here at Battersea we're incredibly proud of our Paralympic team and their fantastic achievements in London.
"It's great to name our dogs and cats after these ParalympicsGB sporting heroes and heroines, and we hope Mark the dog or cat will find a winning home soon."
