TEN-WEEK-OLD whippet pup Asha faced being put down until Four Paws Animal Rescue stepped in to try to give him a second chance at life.
Asha has hydrocephalus, or fluid on the brain, which has caused near blindness, and due to the pressure is likely to have caused some brain damage.
Alerted by the vet due to put him down, the charity stepped in.
But Asha needs an MRI scan to determine the extent of the damage and provide a better idea of treatment options, if any.
This will cost £1,400, with consultation fees and the cost of a feedback report on top.
“We have learned from other dogs with hydrocephalus that they can go on to live a full and happy life and we believe he, the same as all our dogs, deserves the very best chance we can give him,” said a spokesman for Four Paws, formed in Gwent eight years ago and which now has volunteers across South Wales.
