Woman attacked in Newport as she walked dog

A WOMAN was assaulted in Newport as she walked her dog.

Gwent Police are appealing for information after the 28-year-old woman was assaulted as she walked her dog at around 7.30pm on September 19 in a lane at Hartridge Farm Road, Alway.

She was approached by a man who pulled at the hood of her coat and touched her on the neck.

The man is described as tall and of stocky build wearing dark clothing and white trainers and smelling strongly of body odour.

The woman's dog bit the man at the back of his upper left thigh and he ran off.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area who saw a man fitting the description or walking with a limp at that time or who knows of anyone with dog bite that is unaccounted for to contact them.

Anyone with information is asked to call Gwent Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
