SPICE Girls star Mel C yesterday admitted it was “emotional’’ to team up again with band-mate Emma Bunton on her new solo album.

Known as ‘Sporty Spice’, Melanie Chisholm, who has a house at Catbrook, near Chepstow, met fans and signed copies of her sixth solo album in Glasgow.

Stages is a collection of show tune covers, inspired by her time spent watching productions in the West End and later starring in two.

Mel C appeared in Blood Brothers in 2009 and she plays Mary Magdalene in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar, which is on tour now.

Tracks from both shows are included on the album: I Don’t Know How to Love Him from Jesus Christ Superstar and Tell Me It’s Not True from Blood Brothers.

While working on the album, she was reunited with ‘Baby Spice’ Bunton, who features on the track I Know Him So Well, from Chess.

“It was so lovely to work with Emma again. We’re still really good friends and we socialise a lot together,’’ Ms Chisholm said.

“Occasionally we have the opportunity to work together, but recording was something we hadn’t done for a very long time.

Hearing our voices together is really emotional and I’m really happy with how the song sounds.’’
