Blackwood man fighting for life after Pontllanfraith assault
A BLACKWOOD man is fighting for his life following an assault in Pontllanfraith at the weekend.
The 31-year-old, who has not been named, was in a critical but stable condition.
The incident happened at 7.45pm on Saturday night near the Wong Chinese takeaway, Blackwood Road.
The man suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, where he remains in a critical condition.
A 33-year-old man from Abercarn was arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed pending further inquiries.
Gwent Police is appealing for anyone who has information or witnessed the incident to call 101.
