CWMBRAN FIRE: Friends say raze house and create memorial garden

THE house where three generations of the same family died in a fire should be knocked down and replaced with a permanent memorial, friends said.

Kim Buckley, 46, her daughter, Kayleigh, 17, and six-month-old granddaughter, Kimberley, died in the blaze at their house in Tillsland, Coed Eva, on September 18.

Members of the Facebook group RIP Kim, Kayleigh, and the beautiful baby, want the gutted Bron Afon-owned house pulled down.

Many have suggested that a memorial garden or trees could be put in its place.

Dozens of people have supported the idea and say they hope to talk to the family about the idea when the time is right.

Others have suggested setting up a fund in the family’s memory to which members of the community could contribute to showtheir support.

Hannah Foley-Wells wrote: “To be honest the family has had such tragedy it should be a beautiful restful little garden where people can sit and be still. The Buckley Angels garden of peace.”

Jemma Britton wrote: “Aww that is a lovely suggestion.

I would contribute. I didn’t know them but still in shock at what happened. I’m sure the family will appreciate the idea and knowwe as a community are with them at this difficult time.”

Duncan Forbes, Bron Afon’s chief executive, said: “The local community have been so supportive to each other through this difficult time. Bron Afon will involve people in any decision that is made on the future of the house.

“Of course, we can’t have these conversations with the community until the investigations have been completed.”
