TWO Newport men were rescued from their yacht two miles off the West Wales coast, after they got into difficulty steering their boat in rough sea.
Both inshore lifeboats from Burry Port’s RNLI station were sent out at around 5.55pm on Sunday after the yacht tried to drop anchor outside Burry Port Marina and got into difficulties.
The anchor dragged and the yacht grounded, damaging its rudder, with the boat then driven backwards by the incoming tide.
People on the coast taking photographs of the rough tide phoned the coastguard after realising the yacht was having problems.
The RNLI launched two vessels, which were able to tow back the yacht, with its crew of two Newport men and a man from Gorseinon.
It was safely back in the marina by 7.15pm.
