If you had to be stuck in a lift with someone who would it be and why?

My wife, of course.

What is your biggest fear?

Falling from a great height.

Do you have any superstitions?

Yes, no crossed knives, walking under ladders, never walking past a piece of litter

If you could have only one song on your iPod, what would it be and why?

My one song would be The Rose. Why? because it articulates everything I feel about love, beauty and its warts. More than that it was the song that set me off on my new life’s adventure with Wendy and with my two young children Tad and Carwyn.

What’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought, not including property?

Most expensive thing I’ve bought must be the car.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Both by Nye Bevan and Michael Foot, pictured, – never give up on your dreams, there’s nothing you can’t achieve through peace and determination.

What’s your indulgence?

Missing a council meeting and going for a walk over the beautiful mountains of Bedwas.

What item could you not live without?

My music.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?

More tolerant against the Tories. The anger they create within me blurs my judgement.

Where are you next going on holiday?

To Italy with the Socialist Choir to try and change the world.
