A CHARITY fire walk at the Tredegar Arms pub in Bassaleg on Saturday raised more than £2,000.

The event was the first fire walk St David’s Hospice Care have organised, and saw brave volunteers walking across hot coals for the charity.

Julie Pritchard, postmistress of Bassaleg Post Office, raised more than £1,000.

Sally Rees, fundraising manager at St David’s Hospice Care said: “It went really, really well. There was crowd of about 120 watching, and 23 people took part in the fire walk itself, it was really great. We are definitely going to do it again, I’ve already started looking at attempting the longest ever fire walk. Everyone had a really good night, it was fabulous.

“For this event the residents of Bassaleg really came up trumps.”
