Newport driver was speeding ‘to get to a toilet’

A ROOFER who was speeding because he needed the toilet was disqualified from driving for a fortnight.

Stephen Hudson, 66, of East Grove, Newport, told Abergavenny magistrates that after a tumour operation he found he needed the toilet more often and was speeding to get to Asda.

He admitted doing 38mph on the A4042 at Kingsway, Newport, a 30mph zone. Hudson already has nine points on his licence. He said losing it could affect the people he employs.

Magistrates disqualified him from driving for two weeks. He must pay a £65 fine, £45 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
